Maple pecan rice krispie treats

maple pecan rice krispie squares drizzled with maple icing scattered on plate

Growing up I perceived maple to be a ‘mature’ flavor,

a taste only the palette of an adult would appreciate. It was no match against my sweet tooth, who craved the sickly saccharinity of what my parents only referred to as “pancake syrup” no matter what food we poured it on.

It was good for what it was, but now as I have expanded my own palette I realized it was second fiddle to the powerhouse punch that is actual maple syrup. The smell alone is able to teleport me to comforting fantasies of cozy winter mornings, with soft snow falls.

I’m betting, these rice krispie treats can do the same.
